Had a few people ask about the project. :peek:
We hope to debute on August 22...my 41st birthday. Pictures to follow as soon as I can get my daughter off of Myspace long enough to do the download/upload or whatever it's called. Will be my 2nd attempt at organized drag racing...drove the 009 S10 a few years ago...smoked the tree w/ .120 light and ran 7.20...was running 7-0's with Billyboy driving at the time.
Here are a few particulars:
406 built by us (Thanks for the parts hookup Mike Black)
Glide w/o a brake
5k PTC converter
Back-halfed w/ custom rear 4-link and anti-roll bars fabbed in-house
28-10.50's, 4 wheel discs
Full aluminum interior
No-glass
Hope to be 7-0's or a little better un-corked.:nailbite:
Plan to debut in full Camo paint in honor of my oldest son who just went into the Army.:salute:

THRASHING TRYING TO MAKE IT THIS WEEKEND!
Forgot how much work there was in building one of these things.
POPPED my 406 with the car still on the jackstands...F@%$!!!!!
Gonna have to bore it now so we'll rebuild and use it for my transition motor to Modified.
Going back to old faithful. 060 over 350 w doublehumps.

YEP!
That was my first one ever. I could not believe how quick the thing revved up. Turned it 7k before I realized it. Ordered a 6AL to put in it before running it again so I would have a limiter. Ran the first TNT with a souped up HEI. I think I will keep it in 1st gear for the burnout until I get more comfortable with driving.
We went 7.80's with the HEI and 25 degrees of timing. I think we can get it down in the .50's with the MSD and some more tuning. I bought one of those holley knock-off electric fuel pumps to start but had trouble with fuel pressure and leaks too so I put a brand new Holley Blue in it last night.
I'm cutting my teeth in HRE but will be Duck Huntin' before too long. I already got Billy and Buddy shakin in their shoes:biggrin: .
Thanks for the welcome.

Burnout will actually be easier to control in high gear. Just whack the gas to get the tires spinning, and then hold it around 6,000. You don't have to do the burnout on the chip, but it is good to have it as a safeguard. Make sure you're just past the water, not sitting *in* the water. If you look across to the other lane, you'll be able to get a good idea where you are, or have somebody help locate you until you get used to it.
35-36 degrees of timing ought to wake it up a *bunch*!
Have fun, take lots of notes on every little change you make!
