How about having a special race after the IHRA points series is over starting this year. Just something to have a little fun with and pay a small purse too. Say top 16 cars in PRO, top 16 in footbrake and top 8 in juniors. No buybacks, no byes(except maybe for lane choice) and no splitting. Make it a total separate race from a bracket race. Maybe have it on a weekend when the Headsup series is racing. Free entry or something like a gambler race entry with the track matching. $20 a car x 16 cars= $320 + track's $320= $640 purse for 4 rounds of racing. $340 to win, $200 R/U, $50 to semis.. Half those numbers for Juniors of course. Free entry may attract cars for future years though?? Hmmm. Just a thought. Another idea is to have the race include anyone that makes the bracket finals. However those car counts come up. What does everyone else think? Mike? Maybe its a stupid idea. I dunno, I just felt like talking on here!:helmet:

Hey Brian, I think you have a fine idea.
Anything to create some additional interest and give the racers
something extra to shoot for is great, IMHO.
Let's hear from some others out there!

I like you guys thinking outside the box. I like the format proposed and think it would work. I've thought about something similar for the race winners and runner ups of 2006.
I've been talking with a couple sponsors to try and put together a free entry race. I would love for it to be a true free race. Keep the ticket price the same @ $10.00 for admission and free entry to race any class. I've heard accounts of other tracks advertising "Free Race" and them the admission price is inflated or the buy backs reflect the price of normal entry fees. Track owners/promoters need not insult the intelligence of their racers.
I know there are many racers who view the forum but don't post for whatever reason. Let's hear what you, the racers, thing about a special race in the fall. October is typically a good month for racing with cooler temps, much less humidity and most tracks have ended their points programs by then.

Some say I stay outside the box  . That sounds like a good idea too.

Would it be for anyone who has won or R-up in a JPD race of just for bracket racing. IE.. would the TCI Heads-up Super Series count? I am assuming you are talking about something like a Race of Champions like some of the other tracks have done. I know there will not be a Heads-up race but I would guess running in TOP or FB would work. For me, TOP of course. I like the idea, just fishing for particulars :magnify:

I'd vote yeah. The more the merrier Bobby. You gonna run with us after your season this year? The more cars we can get the more the purse can be. Heck you'd probably win or runner-up before JP's year is over anyway.

I'm sure I will Brian. I already have mufflers on the Chevelle. I should be good to go.

I see no reason not to open it up to all winners regardless of class or series. If Robbie Keziah wanted to bracket race his Top Sportsman car he should be eligible since he's won here this year. I've seen the level of competition here in all classes and it's tough. If you can win here then you've earned the right to compete in a winners race. If for some reason we don't get this event put together for this seasons maybe we can put the particulars together for next season and promote it on the front end of the 2007 season.
Bobby when is your season ending Bracket Finals in Rockingham, November? I guess to be fair we would need to schedule this type race on the tail end of the racing season say middle November.

Mike, I am not going to be at the Bracket finals this year but for those that are going it is the weekend of Nov. 3-5. I am running the TCI races only right now for the most part. I want to get back out to do some bracket racing but have had other priorities for the past few months....I'll explain to you when I see you at the track. Anyway, I will definitely be back to race will you guys later this year.
