The bottom line here is that the racers didn't support this series. But on the other hand since it wasn't hardly promoted, at least by Pageland, you couldn't expect it to be as many racer didn't even know about it and some who did didn't understand the concept. We couldn't even get the points up after the Pageland race. On the other hand a lot more Pageland racers went to Union than came the other way and its not like its 500mi between the tracks. So what does it take???? The purse and entry were great, the promotion was lousy, and the racer participation stunk. That about sums it up.

Thanks to Mike Bradley and Tony Brown for the effort and sorry the racers didn't take advantage of this opportunity to race for a little more money. But now it is gone.

Any time you take a risk you have to know you can weather the storm if the storm comes.

Maybe its up to us racers to find a way to help the track---I don't know how but its a good track with good people running it and a bunch of good racers so lets all pull togeather. I have got at least 2 more mod racers envolved this year, maybe if we can drag in a few more. I have one more race before the knife strikes my hand once more but I will still be there one way or another. Any other thoughts?

Get Darlington involved. They are only 40min. from track to track, 4 lane straight shot the whole way. Hard not to include them in my eyes. Half there racer's ran here at Pageland or started their racing here back in Big Bill's days.

While Union isn't to far in my eyes, it is to most. And alot of Union's racers are just getting in to this racing thing and must not want to travel yet. Which I understand. Union will be a good place with good people just like here, but its still NEW there.

Run the races on top of our points races and the other tracks should too. That way the track is getting the most competitors possible. All there regulars and the visitors. Only thing with that is there would have to be at least a universal round money payout or our regulars well be ****** not getting there $40 or $45.

Darlington would be good for me as its the same distance as Pageland. That 180mi trip to Union was brutal!!!! But I think Tony Brown dreamed up this idea as he is always thinking of ways to make racing better so thats Union. They had their points up the next week and were working with the racers. Our points never did get posted and it just seemed kind of back burner on our end and didn't get talked up much. And if either track had a flyer I never saw it---not even posted in the tower. As far as the points thing: I have never agreed with having the tracks points on the same day as a travelling event because you can get knocked out by someone thats not even a part of the points----But on the other hand it encourages the local racers to show up so it would help attendance.

Alot of people feel that way about running special events on points days. I don't for the simple reason, I may run someone not in the points any given day. The track doesn't make you enter the points just to run their race that day. I go to Mooresville and Darlington on their points days. Those guys don't care, they just load me up too:biggrin2: . And remember the points were and still are basically free entry. So I'm cool with it.

I agree totally with you about how it was handled. From our standpoint it looks like our leaders didn't care if it worked or not. Or wasn't going to go out of the way to do it anyhow. And remember the two guys "running" both tracks don't own the tracks and can't spend money their not given. Doug and Tony are in a tough spot but doing a great job.

I do get tired of hearing about how the racer's won't do this or do that, how it's ALL our fault. The track's can take a little bit of the blame. There just as scared to do anything as the racer's. Which is very understandable.

Brian we are just hard core racers that like to race. But I give who ever had this idea a lot of credit. But its kind of like building a race car and going to the track without the drive shaft---it just don't go no matter how good the intentions.

I will be at Pageland Sat and then going to Piedmont Sun $2000 in foot brake and $5000 in top. You should give that a try.

Yea I think Darlington vs. Pageland would have been a bigger deal, since it's a longer standing rivalry between the two tracks being 45 min btwn...

In Pageland's defense, there were a good number of Pageland racers that came to the Union race. This was an idea that I had been holding under my hat until I was running a track. I thought it would work. I think the economy had something to do with it. The distance between Union and Pageland probably did not help the situation either. The reason I wanted Pageland involved is because it is the closest track to Union that I have a strong relationship with. Mike, Jeff, Tim and Doug are all great people that are very willing to try new ideas. For the first race at Union, we passed out 2000 flyers across every convenience store within four or five counties down our way. The spectator count was decent because of that. The racer count was not. I guess you may be right. We may have not promoted it as well as we could have. I talked about it on a lot of websites for months beforehand. Something else is in the works for next year. I will not give up on bracket racing.....

Again, thank you to all the racers who supported it. We do appreciate you more than you know.
