I heard some numbers early in the year but don't remember now----we need to back up that team championship this year and the best way is for everyone to win the 1st round!!!!!! Remember we won't have Ducky and he was hard on those other guys.

I think 18 PRO 26 MOD and 6 Juniors

Pro doesn't have as many cars as Footbrake and there are only 6 Juniors coming to most of the races or even qualified right now. But good luck to getting a response, been asking this question for months.

And aren't we supposed to be parked somewhere up front??? I didn't see anything wrong with where we were last year.

Fern Im pretty sure we get to choose where we want to park, I thought last years spot was a good spot too.

18 Pro 26 Mod and 6 Juniors is what Doug said Sat night. And parking the same place I think and also will have music like last year. So lets get the job done this year----that bunch from Fla wants our spot.

I checked Darlington schedule for opportunities to race there before the Bracket Finals. The schedule didn't imply they were racing Sep 25/ Oct 2. Pageland's schedule says TBA on these dates. Just wondering what people's opinions are on having races on these dates to stay sharp.

Maybe I will make the trip also. They still Charge $100 entry for $50 to win down there????

ferndaleflyer
August 24th, 2010, 07:51 PM
You take a look at that payout and you know how good we have it at Pageland----Same entry and $600 to win $200RU pays 4 places and no round money------Man that sucks for those that race there all the time.

August 24th, 2010, 09:15 PM
lmao Fern..... Last time I was there it was fourty to enter. We split w/four cars with w/ru getting 300, 3rd/4th got 200. compared to Pageland that blows, on the other hand most drag racers do have a day job...lol

No doubt the payout isn't as good as Pageland in footbrake, but TOP really isn't that far off. They paid back to quarter's last time I was there $50 and paid winner, r/u and semi money. When you add that up to split 4 ways its the same as here at home. I think the entry was 50 too.

Don't brag to much fern, this year is almost over. Next year will be a lot different from what i hear. We will be lucky to have a perse hal:banghead: f of what we are getting this year. Rumors has it, we will only have a perse for the number of cars we have.{ example- 30 pro cars at 35.00, equals 875.00 - if they pay 100% which is very unlikely}. They wan't be many cars showing up for that money. Until the purses change, and the atmosphere changes, nothing will positive happen.

I been smelling that atmosphere for awhile but haven't yet put my finger on it. I guess it is up to us racers to get the car count up so things can continue like they are. Why would a Mod car go to Darlington and run for that purse when they could come to Pageland???? I got 2 more footbrake guys to come this year and I know James Lockhart has got one more top car to come but we have lost some. The McSwains for example don't come as often. I know one thing that the people that run the place used to come around and talk to the racers and I haven't seen that this year. There are a lot of good people at this track, times are hard right now, so we all need to stick together. I know that I drive 116mi to get there, Perry Green is further, and so are the Faris Bros in the Red Mustang from Siler City, NC and Ducky is about 90mi. and Chris Yates is about the same. So we need to do some recruiting. How about some sponsors????

Ok folks----I cornered Mike Bradley and Doug Mayhew about next years purse structure. I was told point blank that there will be no changes next year. To quote Mike "why would we change something that is working". As far as the low car count in top they seem to think they come and they go and it may be up next year.

Once again---we have one of the best tracks around and we as racers need to try to encourage others to come to our track. Steal some from Darlington where they run for nothing or Union, Farmington, or Mooresville. I have been told that Mooresville this year copied Pagelands payout structure exactly. What better praise than to be copied by the compititon.

Every one get tuned up for the finals in Darlington as the only way we can go is down----thats the way it is when you are at the TOP.

If anyone would like to order some slicks I am a Hoosier dealer and will be going for tires probably next week. 336-953-9297 for priceing. I can have them dropped at your door for a bit extra for UPS.

Thats great news Fern, thanks for passing it along and ending rumors. I talked to a few guys from Darlington the other week and they are going to come up some next year. I did let them know that you would pay their entry fee the first time they came...lol. You have any luck at Piedmont? I,ll see ya when I see ya!

Didn't do any good at Piedmont because I went up to Virginia to race. Had a little car trouble which cost me big time.

That might not be a bad Idea to pay their GATE FEE the first time they come to our track. I have done that before. I just left an extra $10 at the gate and told them to let the next MOD class racer in free. Never did know who got in free!!!!

You do any good at Darlington?

I went to Piedmont on Monday... for a little bit! Ran into Scott Macy first round... as usual. I'm .009, taking .016 stripe, and in the way. Sheesh! Don't know what it is, but I can't beat that dude! I'd rather race Chris Plott!

Fern I was really lucky at Darlington last week. Lucky to have won one round! I just can't get a grip on that place. I made the 2 1/2 hour drive to Dunn Benson this week, 8 cars left and i'm -.004. That was a looooong ride home let me tell you. Oh, the other guy... he's .08 and broke out by three. Oh well I had fun and that sure is a nice place.

Drove by Rockingham yesterday----I never saw so many people there in my life. Vehicles parked everywhere and everyone tail gateing or partying and it was RAINING. The stands were full. That ADRL must be a pretty big deal to draw more people to the Rock than the world finals or the other IHRA dog and pony shows. Impressive.

Look on DRR there is a thread with 6 pages of pics and look at the stands in the background---not an empty seat.

You got to 8 cars at Benson you done good.

Read on DRR that Ducky was runner up at the $10,000 footbrake race at Cecil County, Md this past weekend. Good job by Ducky. Most of us can't attend this race because it is a true footbrake race. No electric/air shifters or trans brakes permitted. I had gone to it in the past but car won't let me now. Anyway good job Ducky--thats a tough crowd up there in NHRA Div 1.
