Great job done by everyone this weekend at Carolina Dragway during the running of our Division 2 Bracket Finals. As part of the ownership team it was awesome seeing everyone pull together to help their fellow racers out. I don't have the exact finishing order but I would guess we finished 4th maybe 5th overall.
I want to personally thank everyone who helped with decorations and actives. In my opinion, we were first place with decorations, banners and signage. There wasn't even a close second. Like a lot of things in life politics plays a large part in the final outcome. We'll keep doing our dead level best and be proud of it.
I can't speak first hand about next years Bracket Final location. I know two other tracks were lobbying hard for it to be held at their track next year. IHRA normally plays their cards close to the vest until ALL the lobbying and negotiating is complete. Without looking at the map I would suspect Carolina is about as centrally located as you can get for each team in Division 2. I personally think it would be a blow to the division if the Finals were moved to a fringe location making for a 6 or 7 hour commute for some teams. For the health of the division I think you must look at what's best for the OVERALL division not just one or two tracks. Sometimes I think many racers and owners lone for the leadership of Bill Bader and what he added to the sport. I would suspect we'll know late this year or early next.
Don't forget we have plenty more racing left in 2006. The weather is just now getting good.
