Well tonight was my maiden voyage with the truck.Wasnt as I expected wich Im sure is with anything. The first run was a 7.63 with crappy 60 ft's in all 3 runs(1.7's an 1.8's).Then next 2 runs were 8.4 and 8.6.I know my gear is off I am running what was in it(3.89) where as I know I need at least a 4.86.I am running cal tracs wich I know I need to tune better.Th eengine was dyno'd at 570hp and 520 tq at the flywheel as to why I just figured Id have a lil quicker et.That was with 1 3/4 headers on dyno an im running 1 5/8 wich I know would knock the hp down some but shouldnt have hurt the torqe except maybe knocked it down th erpm range a lil.Just a lil of me venting in frustration lol I know its all about the tune so Im not discouraged, just cant wait till my next weekend off!!!!!

Brian don't beat yourself up. I've witnessed many racers that just don't comprehend the total package. Someone may have a particular engine combination that makes good power numbers on the dyno but the vehicle package is over in left field. I stress to my customers you can't race that dyno sheet. It is a must that the converter, transmission, shift points, carb, camshaft, camshaft phasing, intake, headers, cylinder heads, rear gear, ignition timing, chassis tuning, all these components must match up pretty closely for the best results. For these reasons if you'll watch the veterans like Buddy Plyler and Calvin Watson they've been racing for many years and have the combinations down pat. All the guys here at the track are easy to talk too. Stop by and bend one of their ears or both for that matter the next time out for test-n-tune.
Best of luck!

Hey Brian don't beat yourself up. I spoke to several guys from CDRA and they all had some issues from Friday T&T in the cool damp air. They all had a better session on Sat with better weather and more heat in the track. Keep after it and you'll get it sorted out soon. Rome wasn't built over night and going fast doesn't always come over night either. Keep your chin up. RM
