Hey Mr. Bonneon! Looks like you're making some progress on the Neon. Can't wait to see what she'll run next seasons with all the mods in place. I assume with the Aeromotive A1000 pump and filter setup it must be equipped with a BIG turbo or NOS kit. Ah, maybe both!:nailbite: Be sure and keep us posted throughout the project.

Here is more pics of my progress. I have the computer system allmost wired up and I'm in the process of installing the gauges. Also started painting the rollcage. Hopefully by Feb. I should be ready to throw some spark to my SOHC monster.

BEONNEON that looks like one serious ride. Is it an optical illusion or is the turbo sitting right on the cowl? Is that going to require some additional fabrication?

You are right Mike. I am getting closer everyday. I have more pic up so check out my progress.

Looks like it's coming together nicely. I would imagine that 9,000 RPM tach is going to get a workout. I'll say it again, that Aeromotive fuel system looks right at home on the Neon.

I look forward to seeing the Neon take her maiden voyage very soon at Pageland Dragway.

Well I got the fuel system plumbing all hooked up :biggrin2: and I must say WOW. I don't think I could have done it without Bradley Auto Parts. Thanks guys.

Man that Neon is coming together nicely. Remind me to show you the Lexan glass cleaner the next time you're in the store. You have to be careful cleaning it.

June 6th, 2007, 01:17 PM
Well I setup some tune time for next Friday. I had to send my MS ECU off to Cali a few weeks back.. :flamethrower: (i fried a few transisters). Anyway when I got it back the base tune that was installed was small injectors. This made it way too rich for my big injectors so I need to have them turned down. It won't be long till I make my debut at Pageland Dragway :uzi:

Good luck Johnnie with the upcoming dyno session. Hopefully we'll see the Neon lurking through the stagging lanes before long.

I still feel like the Neon that's for sale on RacingJunk.com deserves another consideration. You could continue to campaign the car on the NHRA circuit and test at Pageland.

June 7th, 2007, 01:54 PM
When you say "MS ECU" are you talking Megasquirt? If so I have a MS2 V3 ecu that I built set up for a distributor for sale. Your probly using ver1 with the extra code though I assume. Nice car BTW looks light.

BEONNEON
June 19th, 2007, 12:34 PM
Yep its a Megasquirt that has been moded a little. I went last friday to Turbo Tune and got the car running but had an oil leak  and some wiring issues :banghead: that needed to be fixed before I could make a few pulls on the dyno. I worked on it all weekend and got it all fixed:smile: . Now I have to make another trip back to TT Saturday. I won't make it back in time to run at Pageland but may take it to the Rock if the tune session goes well.

oh well. I had more problems with my car that weekend and I think I may have it all ironed out now. I made all my grounds bigger and re-wired a few things and it helped alot. Dont know when I can get back up there but in the mean time I plan on letting my woman race my other Neon at Pageland Dragway. Shes just starting out so its gonna take a few passes to get use to it all. Here is a few pics of it.

Johnnie sounds like things are coming together. I'm glad to hear your girlfriend will start racing on Friday nights. Maybe since Lisa has been racing her GTO in Super Street most Friday nights it has encouraged more women to try it. Good luck with the projects.

Johnnie Blount! Its Chris man! Man that thing is looking great! I might be in TN right now but I am still keeping my finger on what is going down. I know long time no see but I will be back in the mix before too long. I love the way your car has came along. I remember way back when, when it was your daily driver. WOW! Great job.

YES! :rambo: I made a few good pulls on the Dyno. Looks like I need to get my altenator wired back into my system. It won't hold a charge with everything running long enough to make a pass. But its time to race. :biggrin2:

Well it was fun this weekend. The Beon is sick:rambo: . My first pass at Pageland was an 8.0 @ 94. My last pass 7.94 @ 92. I made 4 runs and it was squirly each time. Need to work on keeping it in the groove, its just crazy when the boost kicks in :biggrin2: . I did make it down to the Rock Saturday night and made 1 pass before my luck struck. The rear motor mount broke and so did an axsle. The 1 pass I did make I ran 12.3 @ 114.

Johnnie I hurt for the loss almost as much as you. I couldn't help but notice the sticker on the drivers door that looks unharmed. Maybe you can donate the door to us to display at the track.

I'll let Johnnie share with you what lead to the accident that totaled the Neon. The main thing is he walked away uninjured. The car can always be replaced.

Stripped down? would be an understatement!
How about cut into little pieces!
I hope your new ride build goes well - keep us posted.

BEONNEON
November 6th, 2007, 08:08 AM
Well lets just say I screwed up:banghead: on the street right in front of my house, car got real squirly:nailbite: and I lost it. It spun around 180 and hit the ditch, flipped twice and that was all she wrote:frown: .

Johnnie the car is coming along nicely. Do you plan on putting the turbo motor in the new car?

It's gonna be neat seeing you tune the Neon for the 7.0 Index Pro Tree class.

BEONNEON
February 18th, 2008, 08:26 AM
I sure did Mike and I got it to fire back up last night with no problems. I guess the wreck didn't mess up the motor or the MS tune. I am look foward to getting it to the track ASAP. I still have a few things left but it will not be long.

Some of you know I was going auto but decided to wait till the funds$$ are better before I go that way. Back to the manual. First I got the diff welded before I put the trans back in. Then I finished up the turbo piping. I have been working on the windows and will post pics later.

Good luck with the alignment. Hope to see ya at the track this season.

thanks. I plan on making a few passes Friday night. Don't expect to see any all out passes :biggrin2: . I'm not sure what its gonna do when I put the hammer down. I feel sure I can get the bearing replaced for free under warranty. Email me Monday to remind me and I'll get one ordered.

I got the car weight with and without me in it this weekend at Custom Chassis. Plus they finished welding up my wheelie bars for me.
2155lbs with me
1971lbs without me
my goal wa 2000lbs and I achieved that and some. I still can back half the car to save more weight.

This project is not dead by no means. I'm fixing to turn the driving duty over to my girlfriend so I can do some watching while I finish my new 4 cly monster. I'm also switching it over to auto trans so it will be easier for her to handle.
