I want to thank everyone who came out to race with us. In the first round of the High Roller Pro race one of the local heavy hitters, Alonzo Moore, lost to Jamey Watson. Alonzo bought back into the second round and never looked back the rest of the day. The runner up spot was Doc Holiday out of Ansonville, NC piloting the blue, small block Chevrolet powered S-10 pickup. Doc made the early rounds count but couldn't close the deal getting behind on the starting line and running 2 off his dial-in. Rick Cunningham in the Chevrolet Vega, another one of the Chester Gang, raced his way into a solid semi finalist position.

Jamie Freeman, racing for Randy Anderson Race Team out of Saluda, SC pulled double duty in the Oldsmobile entering both Pro races. Jamie fell in 1st and 2nd rounds of the High Roller race but mowed down the field in the Pro race to claim victory. Pageland's very own 2004 points champion Anthony Cassidy made it to the final round in the Pro race. He left with a huge starting line advantage but broke out by .005.

Jr. Dragster action was as HOT as I've seen anywhere. Number one qualifier Nicole Phillips from Sumter, SC ran through the field not just in the High Roller portion but both races. Nicole and her dad/tuner John Phillips had their fair share of drama before it was all over having to change engines after 1st round. As luck would have it both team Phillips' entries had to run each other in the first round. John was able to get the engine changed and make the call for 2nd round of eliminations. In the runner-up spot for the High Roller race was none other than Cody Dodgen haling from Waterloo, SC. Cody has moved up one spot in the last two High Roller races so if his luck holds out he should be in line for the win in our next High Roller event. Rick Hebert one of the Georgia gang was runner up in the Jr. Dragster race.

Mr.Bradley, what's going on.Yeah, saturday was interesting and I want to say "Good Job"to all the winners.I was wondering if the gates are gonna open at 2:00pm like the schedule says,or is it gonna be earlier?I would rather the gates open at 12:00pm and get the race over before it gets dark, but thats my opinion.I know you Mr.Bradley would like to get back to your "easy chair"and watch a little tv before bedtime. I was just wondering cause I know you and Brian had said something about it on here.Let us know and we will see you saturday. Thanks!

Chub you know me all too well.LOL It totally slipped my mind to talk with Tim and Jeff about an earlier start time for the final two Saturday races this season. With the 80 degree weather on Friday and Saturday the last thing on my mind was "typical" weather for this time of the year. I'll call them today and get their thoughts and post back this evening. With Doug being sick  Friday and Saturday and me having to announce some I was out of my element.

Speaking of announcing, I want to thank you all who didn't hound me for my lack of ability behind the Mic. I received an email from a retired IHRA big wig some time ago and I totally agree with him that the most important person at the track is the announcer. The announcer juggles many task while in the booth from coordinating the race, informing everyone of the program details for the show, hitting the sponsors names, selling tee shirts, concessions and most importantly telling a story. People should be able to close their eyes and paint a menial picture of the race from the announcers words.

In case anyone missed it in the other thread the new gate times for this Saturday and for the remainder of the season is 12:00. Stagging lanes will open at 1:00.

Rick I don't remember the exact numbers but it was around 70 entries total for the event. Had hoped for a few more but you have to start somewhere. It really is hard to beat a racer at his home track. The Bracket Finals at Carolina Dragway proved that as well.

I agree to some degree about the "home track advantage". This year was the first time in a few years that Team Carolina finished in the top 5 at the Finals. If you have a good-hooking track, everyone is on a level playing field, but, when you have a "so-so" track, the people that race there every weekend know how to work it.
This race was our first time there. We thought that the track worked good, our 60's were where they should be. The surrounding pit area was very nice. The racers there were also extremly helpful and willing to talk to us. One problem that we would have to talk about was the the tree was hard to hit in the day time. We knew alot of the other "first time racers there" and they had the same problem with the tree. The other was, that the gate was closed on us when we arrived at 1145 Friday night. We are used to other tracks gates being open for the racers coming in late. We had to find a safe place to park for the night.
I can say that we were a little disappointed in the turn-out, but, you are right, you have to start somewhere.
