2007 Bracket Finals

I just saw on Carolina Dragway's message forum's that the 07 Bracket Finals will not be there next year. No, not at Darlington either. They said that they were told at the banquet that the bracket finals will be in Alabama:frown: . Alabama Internationl Raceway. Steele, Alabama. I don't know about traveling that far. I won't be able to budget that much. Better to know now than later though. Wonder what they paid for it???:biggrin2:

Kinda stinks that the bracket finals will be that far away! Because most ppl aint going to travel that far to go race! Like Brian said, it is better to know now then later!

I was curious as to how this was going to play out. Darlington and Alabama have been lobbying very hard for the 2007 Division 2 Bracket Finals. Personally I'm sad to see it move from Carolina Dragway. I think for the health of the Division Carolina made a good choice. It's somewhat centrally located and easy to get to from most anywhere.

I spoke with Skooter last month and inquired about our prospects of moving back to Division 1. He said we could attend the Division-1 or Division-2 Bracket Finals in 2007 that it was up to us. I think if the B/F' were to be staying at Carolina or going to Darlington the majority of our racers rather stay Division-2. Now I'm not so sure if in deed the B/F will be in Alabama. Division-1 might be looking better by the minute.LOL In fact, I think Jeff Miles may have mentioned switching to Division-1. I guess time will tell.

Price paid? I don't have any idea but I'm sure it wasn't cheap. In my opinion it was a loosing deal for the Miles family when you factor in the lost revenue from their Thursday night T-N-T. I should get a email the next day or so announcing the location of the 2007 B/F if the announcement has been made.

I'll post any news I receive from IHRA.

So if its JPD's choice of Div. 2 or 9, I assume you have a set date you have to let them know by right? Can we ask when this may be or is that need to know basis only:biggrin2: ? Thanks for all you're doing Mike.

I would need to confirm it with Skooter but I believe we would have until June 1st to select our B/F destination. Just so we'll know I'll talk with him and post our options.

I think I've posted my feelings somewhere on here before but I think for the health of a division you should try and select a track that's centrally located for the majority of the tracks. With travel expenses what they are today it just puts an extra burden on some race teams in terms of time away from work and extra fuel expense to travel the extra distance.

We'll keep our options open and I look forward to a great year at JPD.
