Well I broke down and bought me a new reg yesterday.I tried to bore out the old 1/2" pipe plug side diamater and bought a new gauge and it still acted up.One thing I noticed yesterday after I took the inlet fitting out ( before I bored it out)was marks on the inside surface of the fitting.I looked in the instructions of the new reg and it stated that to small an ID inlet would cause internal damage.Im assuming that is what happened.I could tell a difference in looking up in the new reg over the old one( hard to describe what I saw compared to new with out you seeing it as well).I went to local hardware store and bought a compression fitting with -10 an and 1/2" pipe threads.The ID was much larger then the aeorquip fitting.It is brass tho, Im hoping this wont break down?I hope not.The new reg is working great.The instructions said it was preset from factory @ 7psi, but its running 8 from the fatory and IM NOT TOUCHING IT!!!!! lol
