I finally got my crate engine.I know the engine needs to be set on 0 degree's so the comp can work its magic.I have to break the cam in so I wanna make sure the timing is right before I start it.Im sure its the same as settin timing before ya crank a race car, why wouldnt it be right?Maybe someone can remind me how to set the distributor down in the engine to be set at 0 timing for start up.

Just make sure you #1 Int, and Exh. Valve are fully closed. Piston is at Top Dead Center, and Timing pointer is at O* the Distributor will fall into place, although you may need to move the oil pump drive gear alittle so the distributor will fall into place, make sure the number 1 plug wire with is lined up correctly with the rotor, and it should fire right up. If it is a flat tappet cam, follow your cam break in directions clearly. If its a hyd. roller cam you should be good to go. Good luck

That part I know of.I have read that you can have the engine already set to your desired initial timing before start up so it will start up at the desired setting. That way your not fooling with timing at start up.If I dont have the engine at zero at start up and then the computer gives it what it thinks it needs I feel I will have problems trying to break the cam in properly. This is the first fuel injected engine I have ever had to deal with in this fashion.Everything else has been carb and computer free.
