Hello and welcome to the new message forum for Jefferson Pageland Dragway. I had been mulling over the thoughts of designing a different forum for the track for some time. The current forum will give us unfettered access to monitor each post and edit them if needed. The Vbulletin design and phpBB were the two choices that I've had hands on experience with in the past. From my limited understanding Vbulletin has more in-depth programming available at our finger tips. I say our finger tips as I want to take this opportunity to thank Derek Moore for helping with this ongoing project. Without his help the forum would’ve taken much longer to implement. The forum will still be undergoing some tweaking over the next few months if not longer. So be patient as we experiment with the endless number of plug-ins available for the forum. If you would like to submit a recommendation for topic or subtopic header feel free to do so.
Again I want to stress the nature and openness of a forum like this. Please stop and think before posting something you might not want your children to read or see. I know a number of elementary school age children and older that check out the racing action each week. I know from experience people tend to want to push the envelope on avatar pictures as well. Please watch the content of those pictures.
The lounge section is kind of a catch all for any topics. You may have purchased a new high capacity front loading washer and drier set that you want to rave about. Well go ahead and let us here the pros and cons of that new appliance. You may have just gotten back from French Polynesia and are just itching to tell everyone what a beautiful place it is to visit. As always a car related topic is welcome in the lounge. You may be saving for a new Camaro when they hit the market later this decade. Somebody will welcome the thread and follow along I bet.
That’s it for now. Enjoy the forum. Get out there and experience some local racing action whether it’s drag racing, circle track racing or anything in between.

Go to your profile (http://forums.jpdragway.com/usercp.php), and on the left side under "settings and options", there should be an option to attach an avatar to your profile.
Or better yet, try this link:
http://forums.jpdragway.com/profile.php?do=editavatar :D

Thanks for the reply. I do not have that as an option under my settings & options but I did click on the link you had and the button beside "do not use an avatar" will not allow me to add one. what am I doing wrong?
Thanks

Ah, sorry about that. It seems it was a simple user permissions option that was left off by accident. Go ahead and try that link again and see if it works.
We'll iron out those bugs eventually. ;-)
Thanks,
Derek

Hey Mike! Great idea creating this forum. I hope it takes off for you. I do have one small request/idea... Could a sub-forum or section be added for rookie/newbie drivers (like me ;) ) who are just starting out and learning, and may have questions? I think it would be cool to be able to ask questions, especially my infamous "stupid girl questions" and have those that are experienced racers give their input.
Just and idea. :)

I think that's a great idea, lisatw151. Just waiting on Mike's approval, and I'll set it up.
If anybody else has any ideas, let em' fly. I'd love to hear them. This forum is all for you guys anyway!

Cool! Thank you. I have lots and lots of stupid girl questions. :p No seriously. I will have lots of questions. I'm brand new to drag racing and learning from a seasoned racer would be a HUGE help. :) (Oh, and Mike doesn't count. Cuz I beat him last Saturday. LOL)

Don't wait to see green on the tree! If you are running on a .5 full tree you should be leaving on the last amber to cut a good light. It takes some practice but with time you will know how you and your car react so your reaction time becomes consistant. (it is an art)...ask any footbraker...:D
It's good to see new people get into the sport at any level. Drag racing is a blast and there are plenty of us "vets" LOL to give out advice. Good luck at the track.

Thanks! Mike red-lighted Sat too. LOL. I don't remember my RT but I think it was .6 or .7 My 60ft time was 1.97, which for me to be below 2.0 was very good. :p

Just hang in there, you already have your first win! We will have to work on those reaction times .6 or .7 can be improved on....watch Buddy Plyler...he takes regular weekly racers to school about every week.:D I'm a top bulb and pro tree racer so it's best to learn from those who are more "seasoned":D

Hey Gary it's good to hear from you and I'm glad things are looking up for you and Joni. Thanks for the kind words but please I'm a verrrrry small part of what goes on at Pageland Dragway. This is a total team effort from the owners, staff and racers. We're spoiled with the best people and that's what makes Pageland Dragway successful.
Hope to see you and Joni at the track this season. Until then take care.
