So... I have mickey thompson drag radials now, and I have the drag bags, which I keep about 18lbs in for racing. And I'm still slipping and spinning off the line. My 60ft times are always right around 2.xx. My best 60ft has been 1.97. My guess is that right now, I'm not heating the m/t's sufficiently. Being a 6 speed, I haven't yet learned how to heel/toe so I can really heat them up good. Do y'all think that's my problem? I've got a line-lock coming but don't know how long it'll be before I can get it put in.
Any ideas?

Hey Lisa! Your GTO looks great and sounds killer! :D
I tried to get by to meet you Friday night but you were always going down
the track beating up on some Mustang's!
Your drag radials do need to be heated up well - the line-locks will help you
get that done. You may want to experiment with lowering your air pressure
down to 16,14,etc. until it hooks better as well as lowering your LAUNCH RPM.
Get your line-locks installed, adjust your tire pressure and RPM and you'll be hooking hard!
Hope to see you at the track soon!:)

LOL. Thanks Rick! And I think there was only one Mustang I beat up on. That red one with the shaker hood. That was actually my best run of the night, I think. But boy, was I relieved to beat him especially. LOL. Now i need a rematch of that little S10. I beat him the first time but he had on street tires. The next two times, he smoked me, and I red-lighted. Bah. LOL
I had about 22lbs in the m/t's. i will try lowering it a little this friday if i'm there, which i probably will be. maybe i'll find time sometime this week to go out and practice my heel/toe somewhere. the pedals in the GTO just aren't made quite right for it. They're too far apart.
As far as launch RPM's... I've been going at about 3000. I get so antsy I think, that I just wanna mash the gas and go. LOL. That's another thing I'll have to concentrate on, as well as my shifts. So much to think about in a short 8.xx seconds.
Thanks though!! I appreciate any and all help/constructive criticism. And please, come find me next Friday. I'd love to meet you. :)

Hey.... 6 mos later, I have an update. I now have my linelock installed. (Thanks Carl!!!) I went to Bradenton, Fl this past weekend for an all GTO track day event and he put it in for me the day before. I did get to do some pretty good burnouts and got my dr's heated sufficiently, but my 60ft's were still all over 2.xxx :banghead: I just don't get it. Guess I'll have to play around with psi's in the dr's as well as the drag bags.
Oh, I did accomplish ONE thing I have to toot my horn about though... (hush Mikey.. you already know)
I cut a perfect .000 light on my next to last run. WOOHOO! Pure luck, I assure you. But with a 6-speed, I think I can gloat just a little. :P

That was back in January when I went down, and honestly, I don't remember now what they were. I was down there a couple of months ago for vacation, and though I don't remember exactly what they were, I remember thinking that prices were high compared to Charlotte... and Charlotte's high compared to just about anywhere in SC. Right now, premium is $3.19/gal in Charlotte. So I figure Fla is probably right around there or a little higher.

Hey Lisa. I use to run around 15 psi in my DR's. They were the BFG's, but I could cut consistent low 1.70 60's with ease. It had stock shocks and springs on it. I did however have to do a very good burnout and heat the tires up bigtime to get them to hook. Just experiment, and have fun doimg it. Good luck.

I kno a few tht run those tires and dont really heat them at all, juss enough to get the grit off of them. But they are runnin' Hoosier street slicks tho. I've always heard u have to heat a mickey thompson more. But if ur still slippin' it could be the tire pressure is too high too.

I'm not slipping anymore. Now I'm bogging most of the time. :eyeroll: I've increased my launch RPMs up to around 4k and that's helped lower my 60fts to the 1.8xxx range, which is a huge improvement for me. I'm also able to heat the M/T's a lot better now since I now have a linelock. I've found though, that if I slip juuust a little bit, I actually get a better 60ft. I just can't seem to duplicate it consistently. It happens by accident. LOL. I'm running 12psi in my tires. I may bump that back up a little to see if it helps with the bogging.
