Well I finally got to make a few passes tonight at T&T at Shadyside. I had the throttle stop set about 50% so if the car wanted to do something silly I could recover from it. First pass it went straight as an arrow and stopped fine. Ran 5.865 at 118.302 with a 1.333 sixty foot. I opened it up a little more and got moved to the left lane due to an oil leak from the car in front of me. The car went straight but it had alot of front end lift and ran on the wheelie bars about 100 ft. Ran 5.668 at 122.576 with a 1.290 sixty foot. I did nothing and went up for a last pass. Car really lifted the front this pass plus got loose on the top end. Ran 5.604 at 123.507 with a 1.265 sixty foot. I loaded it up. I need to reset the 4 link and get the front end down to a reasonable level before I open it up and let it eat. Over all pretty happy and best thing is nothing broke.....LOL.

Congratulations, Joe! I bet it felt good to put it on the wheelie bars:eek: and get the feel of it.:P I'm sure you will get it adjusted and get the front end down and make some full-out passes. Looking forward to seeing you and the car soon.

JP is just too far to travel for a T&T session. That's almost 2 hrs one way for me. I like JP so you should be able to see me racing there soon. JM

Went to Greer today trying to avoid the rain. I moved the 4 link reset the shocks and added 2 numbers to both ends of the carb. It was 82 degrees with 84% humidity and bar press was 2940 and dropping. Last pass was full speed and the car ran 5.493 @ 125.873 with a 1.215 sixty foot. Car still pulled the wheels too high but it went straight as an arrow and was very comfortable to drive. No sway or sliding around at all. The oil pressure drops to zero while slowing down because I have to use alot of brakes. Not a big deal but something I need to work on. Life is good. At a good track in good air it'll go mid 30s I think. Rain came so that was my first and only full pass. JM

Congrats Joe. Job well done. Sounds like your Nova and Tracy Jenkins' are pretty close E.T. wise. Maybe you two need to turn the wick up just a tad to make the 5.30 Index for the Heads-Up Super Series.

I hope you can make the July 28th P.T.R.A. event here at Pageland.

I plan to go to Mooresville next Sat if all goes as planned. I don't plan to kill it but it'll be running at WOT ......LOL. Checking things out this morning and so far everything looks good. Need to get my carb guru to work on the carb cause the air bleeds are all wrong for this motor. It sounds like trash riding around and in the water.......LOL. I may up the shift point but probably won't drop the spoiler wicker bill or add any timing to it just yet. If I can work on the chassis a little and get the sixty foot time where it should be it may be close.......LOL. I'll be heading your way in a few weeks or so and try some bracket racing. Tracy has a good motor but he's fighting a heavy car just like I am. I got good brakes but this thing is hard to stop......LOL. I may have to go on a diet.....LOL. JM

"...Thanks Tom. You and the wife still racing? Where you been going now? Stay safe. Joe McCoy..."

Joe, Tobey quit once Brewer's dropped their bracket program. That was 2002. I kept her Monza around for awhile, after that, and ran it quite a few times myself. Last year, we sold the Monza. Didn't seem to make much sense keeping it any longer.

I've been running at a couple of different places. I was the Street eliminator track champion, at Northeast Dragway, in 2003, 2004, and 2005. I've been running in Northeast's Top eliminator points in 2006 and 2007. I only go to Northeast on points weekends now though, due to the long tow and the added expense of running in Top.

Once again, congratulations on the success of your project. You've got to be tickled with it. Take care. Tom Worthington.

Man was yesterday a beautiful day to be racing here. Not a cloud in the sky, nice breeze, low humidity and high 70s for temps. My car ran it's best ETs to date but wasn't quite competitive in the 5.30 Index class but we're progressing. First pass it ran 5.392 @ 128.181 with a 1.185 sixty ft in the left lane. Backed that up first round of qualifying with a 5.397 @ 128.174 with a 1.189 sixty ft in the right. The car was launching to the left and I had to try some adjusting but I wasn't able to get that resolved all day. Second qualifying pass was a 5.429 @ 127 launching at 4800 rather than 4400 and shifting @ 7000 rather than 6800 so we dropped back to 4400 for first round. Track was getting hot and we got slammed first round when we could only run 5.443 @ 127 to his 5.344 both off a 5.30 index. I killed the guy on the tree with my .013 light to his .067 but that wasn't enough and he probably knew he had the round if he didn't go red. Nice day, fine people and a safe day to and from the races. I have to get my carb fixed, it's junk so there may be some ET gains possible there plus the car should be capable of a little better 60 ft if I can get the front end to stay down some and get it to go straight. I was having to drive the heck out of it the first 200 ft but bad as it looked the old Nova was glued down and never did get squirrely or out of control. I never once thought ,dude you better lift!!!! LOL. I'll check the car out good and probably try a different set up for next W/E.

Way to go, Joe! It sounds like you are real close to getting the Nova adjusted. I'm sure you will have it right, soon. How about some pictures
of finished product. Need to get someone to take a few shots of you
with those wheels up before you adjust it down!

Thanks for the kind words. Maybe Shane got some shots of it at Mooresville. If not in a few weeks I hope to be coming to Pageland with it anyway. JM
