just wondering if its possible that jpdragway would ever consider having an all bike race of some sort? like 1st or last weekend a month or something...just something that gives bike racers a chance to get into the action like the rest of the car guys? thanks

Doug has had a couple of meetings with the bike racers on Friday night to get their input on what they would like to see at Pageland. It would seem one of the major obstacles is the fact that 99.9% of the bike racers run "NO TIME" passes. This makes it very difficult to have organized classes. This would lead one to assume the majority of actual bike racing is done on the street.
I've been looking at doing something along the lines of "Pinks All Out" once a month for the bikes. Have the computer set in qualifying mode until 9:30 or so and then pair up the 8 closest bikes in E.T. for a heads-up, "No Time", first to the finish line type shootout for a small purse. I foresee the hurdle being that not many bike racers will participate. I think it would be a killer program. One month you might have 8 bikes ranging from 6:20 to 6:30 and the next month you may have 8 bikes ranging from 6:90 to 7:00.
Another thought I've had is an index class for the bikes like we have for the cars. I'm not sure what the majority of bikes run but if I were to guess I would say 6.50 to 7.0 is pretty close for the majority. If y'all want to put something together see Doug Mayhew in the tower on Friday night. Maybe it's time for another bike racers meeting.
