Hello all, I am new to the area and new to drag racing. I would like to run my car could anyone give me info on how to race at the dragway on fridays. I just completed my 70 duster and though it is no race car I would like to see what she does in the 1/8th. The motor is a pretty much stock 360, and I plan on doing some mods to it soon so I would like to get a baseline and maybe get into the sport even more.

Welcome to the area and Pageland Dragway. The format for Flat-Out-Friday is pretty straight forward. Upon entering the track you pay for a test-n-tune tech card, sign the IHRA insurance waiver at the gate and you're good to go. You'll need to put a number on your tech card and also put that same number on your front and rear windows. Once you get ready to make a time run just listen to the announcer and he will tell you what lane(s) you can enter. Most often it is lanes 3 and 4 for your type car. If you have any questions once you get to the track don't hesitate to ask any of the staff and they'll get you fixed up.

Hope to see you at the track.

A helmet is required if the vehicle runs 8.59 or quicker. The rest is pretty simple.

What if I dont know what she'll do for a time, should I bring a helmet anyway. Also how many passes should you expect to do on a friday night. Sorry to be a burden I have never been to a TNT night. One last question for the tech inspection what about any leaking fluids?

To be on the safe side you could always bring a helmet. It's always a good idea to wear one.
Also how many passes should you expect to do on a friday night.
I would count on 4 or 5. If you want any more than that you better be there when the gates open (6:00). Friday's can be very busy especially after say 8:30.
Sorry to be a burden I have never been to a TNT night. One last question for the tech inspection what about any leaking fluids?
No apology necessary. How else will you know the answer to this and any other question(s) if you don't ask? If your vehicle has a fluid leak you'll be instructed to find and repair the leak before making another pass. If it isn't fixed on the second attempt you'll be instructed to fix the problem and try again another night.

Hope to see you at the track.

We have a starter division @ JPD called HRE - (Hot Rod Eliminator) It's a good class for street comp cars. No electronics, and the racers are quite competitive. You are most welcome to come and join in on the fun. Our points races are on Saturdays, and you can check the Race Schedules page for the upcoming races. Tip - if you have a fluid leak, get it fixed prior to race date....fluid and drag strips don't go together. Look up Plyler Motorsports (flat black 1965 Plymouth Valiant) and we'll be glad to assist you to learn the ropes.
