We have certainly been looking at this very subject. In fact, I spoke with Tim Sunday about the 4:00 gate opening and with the rain that has moved in each weekend for the last month or so had we started later we probably wouldn't have gotten in much racing. I've even wondered about opening the gates at 5:00, one round of practice, dash for cash, and go racing. I think there wouldn't be any problem getting the race done by 11:00. Maybe we'd have to limit buy backs to first round only or abolish them completely. Did track personnel say abolish buy backs?LOL As always the down time with oil downs and such is hard to forecast.
This isn't a poll per say but what do you racers and fans think about the later start times?

I think I can speak for my mom, that the gates opening later, one round of time runs and then dash for cash sounds wonderful! It is just to hot to be out there at 3pm trying to run. As long as the rain would hold off, you would get the race ran by 11! So opening the gates later sounds wonderful!

I'll need a little help getting the word spread. I'd hate to have people showing up at 2:00 and us not be there. In all honestly how quick can we get the word out to everyone for this weekend? Not everyone has a computer. Maybe we need to shoot for 4:00 starting August 19th and Doug can hit the PA hard this Saturday. You know me, I'm game for anything what do you all think?
Time is short!

Most folks probably need time to become aware of any time change & adjust their schedules.

You know it really don't matter to me what time you guys start, but I think things need to be made clear about what you are going to do. Like if you start late will it still be two buybacks, is it going to be just two time runs things like that. Which for myself I have liked getting home at 8:00 on sat night, and that is with all the racing finished. Just my two cents.

I just called a Keith Hudspeth and I plan to come down and bracket race with CDRA this Sat and he told me the gates open at 2:00. If you do change that please post it so I don't have to sit around in the sun for a couple hours. My old brain is almost toast as it is......LOL. I haven't bracket raced since March so this could be interesting anyways.......LOL. RM

For now the short version is the gates will open this Saturday, August 12th @ 2:00. With the scheduled match race between Matt and Kevin we'll slow the program as needed to finish between 9:00 and 11:00. According to weather.com Friday and Saturday look iffy at best but that's subject to change.
Let me catch my breath and I'll post the particulars for the following weekends later gate times and other pertinent information.
Thanks for your patience as I'm still playing catchup from vacation.

Is tomarrow night(8-12-06) a $3000 PRO race like the schedule says?

The race tomorrow is a regular JPD race. I think the Chester Club has a race scheduled tomorrow plus Matt and Kevin are having their match race tomorrow. Please be sure and look at the schedule on the web site as things change and that's what I update first then post in the forum as well.
The forecast doesn't look good for today or tomorrow. With the rain that has fallen most every night this week Jeff says the place is super saturated now as it is.:frown:

We'll try our best to make the call by 10:00-am for tomorrows race.
Brian I found my DRM Magazine and I think that the vacuum pump kit you saw was from Reher- Morrison.

Ooops. Sorry bout that Mike. I just had it on MY schedule. My mistake.
Yeah Scott and I are still in limbo right now about the pump. Having a few problems with his motor and a few problems finding the end of the rainbow, if you know what I mean. I'll let you know something soon. Thanks

I totally understand about the elusive gold.
I spoke with Steve yesterday about the piston-to-valve clearance and it just isn't worth taking a chance on. I know you'd like to have the engine back and race this weekend but better safe than sorry.

As everyone knows the later gate times will be a work in progress. We'll start off with this format and adjust as needed. You all realize once we push the gate times back it'll snow in August.LOL
4:00 Gates open
5:00 1st round time runs, then dash-for-cash, then 1st round eliminations
Our format will remain the same for buy backs. If it's an IHRA points race we'll continue with 1st OR 2nd round buy back. If it's an JPD points race we'll continue with 1st AND 2nd round buy backs. If it looks like the two rounds of buy backs runs us out of time then we'll adjust as needed. Please remember we're trying to make this a win-win for everyone. We'll tweak it for the rest of this season and hopefully be better prepared when the time comes to layout the 2007 schedule.

Hey Joe,
Since last week was a wash, we moved our monthly race to this Saturday (August 19th). Was wondering if you were going to make it.
